I began practicing ceramics more consistently in 2017 at Lillstreet Art Center as a student in their many classes. However, by 2021, my soda fired work began to draw attention and I began submitting work (primarily mugs) to gallery shows in addition to selling in a more offical capacity on my Etsy page. Since then, I have shifted focus to cone 6 oxidation, furthering my independence as a ceramic artist through learning glaze mixing and firing schedules.
I am primarily inspired by Scandinavian ceramic design, quite apparent in the forms of my work. However, I layer surface decoration where I play with both color and texture over top of these forms to create further visual interest. In my cone 6 work, I'm drawn to bright colors, often aiming to evoke emotions of joy and optimism from my beholders.
